laketh powelleth.

this week i got to go to the loverly lake powell. the actual happiest place on earth, contrary to disneyland's claims. this is year three of spending time with that lake and i would like to make it four next year. actually, i'd like to make it four this year but, no can do. anyway, i made some big milestones this year at powell.

first of all, i cleared the dang wake on the dang wakeboard finally

second, i started gettin a rooster tail goin. hollerrrr.
third, look mom! no hands!
we climbed some rocks.
did some tubage and bottled it up in our minds to save for winter.

now, i feel the need to explain the goggles. while they are not a killer fashion statement, they make tubing 10x more enjoyable as you don't have to worry about getting water in your eyes. they create a whole new tubing experience that didn't exist before. you can lay on your belly on the tube and actually see everything that goes on around you, all from the simple addition of gogs.

we also jumped off large rocks. look at lindsay's feet. They are ret to go.
(i realize that this photo isn't actual proof that we jumped, but you have my word that jumping off that huge 7 foot rock happened).
we sat in the boat in the shade of the rocks for some time, eating pringles and an array of junk food.
my brother and his wife tried to be cute. and, i guess they were depending on your style.
dad and me pretended to be on titanic.
after saying goodbye to the lake, we went to antelope canyon with all the navajo's.
sorry this picture kind of reaks, due to the different sun splotches and lack of flash usage due to rules saying no flash. also, i don't know how to use my new camera yet soo.

we rode on seats in the bed of the truck and pretty much bounced 1-2 feet in the air whenever we hit a small rock or bump. it was like an amusement park ride and a tour with navajo's all in one. a two-fer! two fer one! what a steal!
this is my brother.
and this is antelope canyon. prits neat.

lake pal was great with my powells.
and i think i liked it enough to maybe even do it again next year.
...lemme ask my dad.

mt timp

On Saturday, the sissies, pop, and I hiked up to Mt. Timp. It was treacherous! But also delightful. We awoke at 4:30 in the morn and started on the trail by 6:00.
I suffered from multiple blisters on the trek back down the mountain. Seriously, my whole toe was a blister. It made walking a bit tricky. Tricky, indeed.
It was a lovely view, quite a workout, and some great sister-father bonding. Kewl!

new camera.

I got myself a new camera! Hollerrrr. Here's one of my very first shoots with it soooo.

part june // 10k

This month, Katie, Lindsay, and I did a 10k. We wanted to do a half marathon but then decided we'd better start with a 10k for fear of dying. We got up at 4:40 in the morn and drove down to Provo, hopped on the bus, and waited at the starting line.

I like to live on the edge, so I used to porta potty while waiting to start.
They had some music playing to get us all pumped, but it was pretty quiet so it was more like background napping music.
We walked to the starting line, 3-2-1-go! and we were off. I wanted to die the first mile. I have no idea why it was so hard! I had a horrible stitch in my side for about 4 miles that I had to hold with one hand continuously. When it finally went away I rejoiced.
Katie made the 6.2 mile run in 58 minutes, Lindsay in 1:04, and I finished in 1:08. Not too shabby, especially Katie.
Racing is becoming a big part of my life.

part may // boating

We got the boat out last week.

It. was. glorious.

Lindsay, Dad, and I went right after work at 5:00 and drove down to Utah Lake. Unfortunately when we put the boat in, it wouldn't start. Dead battery. So we pulled the car around and halfway in the water and jumped the boat. Exciting. And a bit scary. But we got it going and we were rett to go!

an accident

So there's this kid that I was friends with a while back, we'll call him Thomas.

We hung out at the beginning of January but then he headed far away for school. We hadn't talked for months because, you know what happens when you don't live close to your friends. So in April, when the eclipse was going down, I woke up in the middle of the night to a text from him saying, "Are you watching the eclipse?!" I was thoroughly confused and wasn't sure how to respond. I was 98% sure he was texting the wrong girl. So I responded, "No:(, was it awesome?!" Five hours later confirmed my suspicions when he merely said, "Yeah it was pretty cool!"

So it was obvs an accident because who just leaves it at that?

two for relief society

Tonight at FHE, we played volleyball on the lawn. It was dandy fun, even though my team was losing. We were still laughing and giddy and having a jolly time. This guy on the other team wasn't my fave. He was a bit self righteous and I just didn't care for his behavior. When some of the girls would serve and the ball didn't make it over he would say, "Two for Relief Society!" as if girls need more chances than guys due to their inability to be good at any sports.

I was quite perturbed. At one point, we were right across the net to each other and I reached my hands out in fury and told him to stop talking (don't worry, I stayed on my side of the net).

So, I mean, don't mess with me. Cause I'll tell you to stop talking.... priiiitty serious stuff. Put you in yo place, boi!
