laketh powelleth.

this week i got to go to the loverly lake powell. the actual happiest place on earth, contrary to disneyland's claims. this is year three of spending time with that lake and i would like to make it four next year. actually, i'd like to make it four this year but, no can do. anyway, i made some big milestones this year at powell.

first of all, i cleared the dang wake on the dang wakeboard finally.

second, i started gettin a rooster tail goin. hollerrrr.
third, look mom! no hands!
we climbed some rocks.
did some tubage and bottled it up in our minds to save for winter.

now, i feel the need to explain the goggles. while they are not a killer fashion statement, they make tubing 10x more enjoyable as you don't have to worry about getting water in your eyes. they create a whole new tubing experience that didn't exist before. you can lay on your belly on the tube and actually see everything that goes on around you, all from the simple addition of gogs.

we also jumped off large rocks. look at lindsay's feet. They are ret to go.
(i realize that this photo isn't actual proof that we jumped, but you have my word that jumping off that huge 7 foot rock happened).
we sat in the boat in the shade of the rocks for some time, eating pringles and an array of junk food.
my brother and his wife tried to be cute. and, i guess they were depending on your style.
dad and me pretended to be on titanic.
after saying goodbye to the lake, we went to antelope canyon with all the navajo's.
sorry this picture kind of reaks, due to the different sun splotches and lack of flash usage due to rules saying no flash. also, i don't know how to use my new camera yet soo.

we rode on seats in the bed of the truck and pretty much bounced 1-2 feet in the air whenever we hit a small rock or bump. it was like an amusement park ride and a tour with navajo's all in one. a two-fer! two fer one! what a steal!
this is my brother.
and this is antelope canyon. prits neat.

lake pal was great with my powells.
and i think i liked it enough to maybe even do it again next year.
...lemme ask my dad.

part may // boating

We got the boat out last week.

It. was. glorious.

Lindsay, Dad, and I went right after work at 5:00 and drove down to Utah Lake. Unfortunately when we put the boat in, it wouldn't start. Dead battery. So we pulled the car around and halfway in the water and jumped the boat. Exciting. And a bit scary. But we got it going and we were rett to go!

i'm ready

i'm ready for summer.
i'm praying it'll be a warm one.
i know it's so so far away.
but in washington, i haven't seen snow since the beginning of december.
so it feels like spring should be coming up.
but, i guess once i drive into utah this week i will quickly realize how incorrect i am.

lake powell

Lake Powell was grand, once again. Carlee and I decided that we can start saying Lake Powell is our yearly vacation since this was our second year going! So basically, it's staying a tradition.
We spent a couple nine hour days out on the lake... wakeboarding, wake skating, slaloming, skiing, tubing, driving around for hours, and eating all sorts of junk. dreamy.
There's not too much to say, but a lot to show...

next week.

Next week, I will make the 3 hourish drive to South Jordan to meet my family, then immediately after my arrival, make the 5 hourish trek to Page, AZ. Page is a really nice city where my family likes to vacation. We sleep there, we eat there, then we drive 30 minutes to Lake Powell and spend all day on that lake.

I love road trips with the fam. Even though we're squishing six people in a truck. We'll deal. Let's just hope that the truck doesn't break, Dad's teeth don't break, and the strap on the boat doesn't break like last year.

Last year was our first year going. I recall saying that it might have been more fun than a cruise, or at least tied. That is saying something. Either way, I could say I love being on a boat on water. It is the best place to be in the world, in a boat on water. Or behind a boat on water.

powell lake

last week was the best week of my life practically.
it very easily could have been the worst though.
i went with the fam for the first time to lake powell, the best place on earth. 2 hours into the 6 hour drive down to page, arizona, dad's trucks turbo went off. that means that we got to go 15 mph up the hill on the freeway till we could turn around. we then waited 2.5 hours in scipio while carlee, andrew, katelyn, and katie brought the sequoia and the little car. thank heavens they left hours after us. we left the truck and the keys at a random little car shop that was closed for the night. lindsay and i explored the farmlands and old totalled cars. we arrived in page at 3am, 9 hours after we left. dad was falling asleep near the end, so i kept him awake with a hard back massage every 15 minutes. when we arrived at the hotel, we found the the strap holding the boat on had ripped. we tied it up and it worked alright. we had a blast and stuff, but then the third day came. dad biffed it wakeboarding and in the process chipped 2 of his teeth and hurt his knee bad. he found a dentist that night in page who fixed him up temporarily. oh, and my itouch went out on me the day before we left. so i had no ipod or instagram all the ride there and back.
but other than that, it was this awesome...

i could argue that it was better than a cruise. but it might've tied.
we wakeboarded, wakeskated, slalum skied, tubed, and drank pop and chips all the days.
