part february // logan, utah

For my February activity, I went to a COLLEGE PARTY. I live for these. And I haven't been to one since I was in college. Like a year ago. It was time I got my wiggles out.

My friend, Katie, was throwing a Sweetheart Soirée in Logan and I moved back home just in time to attend. I drove up to Logan on Thursday and I must admit, I was quite giddy during the car ride, especially driving through Sardine Canyon and into town. It's been over 5 months since I've made that drive!

My first stop was to my dear friend, Jason's. We had a little chat then I headed over to my main boys' house (Mark, Dallon, and roommates). Long embraces were given and hello's were exchanged. Dallon, Mark, and I went to Beto's for old times sake and got carne asada fries. We got them last time we went there and I said they looked like soup and the fries were noodles. Ever since then it's like a big joke amongst those two. So, we went to celebrate soup and noodles by eating Mexican fries.

Next, we went to the Valentines Party!

(me) Katie and Tmera
As you can see, when I dance, my cheeks get real hot and red. But hey, it goes with the Valentine colors sooo. And, it's proof that I had fun. Red cheeks = proof of fun.

Dallon and I even got on the DJ stage and danced. And you know what? I should teach dance lessons because I'm pretty sure I've got it going on.

On Friday, Mark and I went to breakfast at Herm's and I got a quite enormous pancake.

I ate maybe 1/3. But of course, I took it home and ate some more.

We walked up to campus and I reminisced in my head about how much I love that place. It was raining and my shoes were not equipped for that, so my feet were drenched and I was cold. But it just added to the reminiscing experience.

Later Dallon and I jammed for hours. We played some old songs we've learned/put together including Wanted and Don't You Worry Child. Then we learned Everything Has Changed real quick and decided that was probably our best song so far.

For Valentines evening, Mark, Weston, and I ate spaghetti. It was like our own personal version of Lady and the Tramp except it was Lady and Two Tramps.

On Saturday I got to see Ray Ray Cottrell and her boo. These two are my favorite couple, mostly because I was there when they first met, first started dating, got murried, and probs when they have kids and grand ones, too. We ate delicious spaghetti made by Chef Josh (the Mr.) and discussed deep topics like friends and jobs.

By Saturday afternoon, I was tuckered out. Being a guest for 3 days is exhausting, just saying. So that's when my excursion ended and now I feel like I'm really home again.

viva la fiesta: 2013 edition

Last night we threw a huge Fiesta.
It was kinda like last year. The bean dip doesn't look quite as fancy this year, but that's because the boys helped. So, it's not my fault. Obviously.
We had a fun dance party, DJ'd by only the best, Jason. Or DJ Dub as he calls himself. This is what I live for. My entire body hates me today because I was getting so down on the dance floor.
We had a cute little photobooth. Aren't those letters adorable? I made them myself. We had festive props such as a fake beer bottle, maracas, and fake mustaches. I used mascara for my mustache, which proved to be flawless.
Here are the founders of the party... plus that kid in the asian hat.
Ya know, when I dance, I get all sweaty and my cheeks get real red and I'm not really that pretty of a sight. Good thing it's dark on the dance floor. And good thing I can shake my booty. I'm pretty sure.

fiesta: the before

So, a few days ago I made a Facebook event titled, "Viva la Fiesta". Really nice, right? Right.

This was the description that I wrote:
...................................................................................
Come dance the night away like a true Mexican! There will even be a real half Mexican there!

Features include:
-Giant 7 layer dip
-Dance party featuring DJ Dub
-Mexican Photobooth with sombreros and mustaches to make you look like a true Mexican
-Pin the mustache on the Mexican
-Bonfire to burn your mustache
-Giant Nacho Libre poster for your viewing pleasure

Dress up like a Mexican and come shake your booty like one, too. If you don't know how, there will be Mexican booty shaking lessons.
...................................................................................
Now, I know exactly what you're thinking....
"ha."
...am I right?

Well, some girl commented and said it was culturally insensitive. "Not going to lie the description of this is offensive," she said.

Um excuse me. A half Mecican helped me write this! Well, not really. But she supported my writing of this and helped me plan the party! Oh how I would love to go to an American party with features like fat suits, pin the chest hair on the white man, and hot dog dip on the table.

I guess you're only supposed to throw fiestas if you're Mexican. Luckily I dressed the part well.

festivus for the restivus

Today was Festival of Colorz.

It was grand, as always.
This year there was a little added spice, thanks to me. Everyone throws chalk at each other as you're walking by. It's socially acceptable at these types of occasions, duh.

I covered my hand in chalk and as I walked past different men, I would smack their butt and give them a nice little hand print that either looked like they got a spanking or a hittin on.
Soon, Lindsay joined me in this act. Then my roommate, Katie. It was a nice little train. I would attack, then Lindsay, then Katie.
 Triple threat.
We would smack and didn't look back.
We got many different reactions...
"Thank you!"
"Niiiice,"
 An awkward "whoa..."
Double takes.
Some looked around for the source, but it will be a forever mystery.
It was great fun, and we got all colored on. Weird, I know.

mlk

today is martin luther king day.
last night we celebrated blacks and whites coming together with a party. a small gathering, if you will. of about 65 or 70 people give or take.
We had some pretty festive treats.
We had such a huge turnout. It was awesome.
We also had a poster where people wrote down their dreams, just like last year.
Martin, thanks for the great party.
