some cool peeps

holy crap, i have the best friends. as i have made quite obvious, i hated this town that i moved to a few weeks ago. and even though i've gotten used to it and made some friends, i still miss my old friends. i miss logan. i miss south jordan. i miss everyone.

well, some of my friends have been so awesome and done some real nice things for me.

carlee and katie came up to visit me my very first full weekend here. they freed me from boredom and loneliness, and helped me make some friends. what catches, they are.

rachel sent me a huge package. the biggest i've ever gotten! on it said 'schmemily jenkins-poop'. i'm sure the mailman loved that. inside was a whole shopping spree of clothes along with m&m's, spree's, and a fish bowl with everything but the water and the fish. rachel made me promise to get a fish and name him 'totes', so i whill.

lizzie was in salt lake a few weeks ago and was driving back home to boise. i was doing homework in my front room when i hear a knock on the front door. no one has ever knocked on that door, or any door, since i have lived here so i was quite confused. i opened the door and lo and behold a cute little mexican lady was standing on my doorstep! it was such a good surprise.

and finally, last night i got a letter in the mail from my friend, jon. i never get letters! it really was the nicest thing.

i have the best friends/family/peeps.

prove it.

you know how when you play sports with boys, they never pass the ball to you if you're a girl?

it's a thing that all boys do, without exception.

it's a thing that i hate about boys.

k yeah, boys have a gender advantage. they don't have to work as hard to be as good at sports. but that just means that if a girl is equally as good at a sport as a boy is, then the girl really is better because she had to work three times as hard to get there. just saying.

the other night i played ultimate frisbee with a bunch of people, boys and girls. we had captains and they picked who they wanted on their team. of course, the boys were picked first, then the girls. i was last because nobody really knew me. at first, i ran up and down the field a few times, only really touching the frisbee when i ran to steal it or block it. eventually some of the boys hesitantly threw the frisbee to me. i missed a few passes, but not because of something i did wrong. they threw the frisbee too high or too far. but of course, it looks like i made the mistake. mostly because i'm a girl. if i had been the one throwing it and the boy missed it then it would have been my fault.

after proving myself 4 or 5 times (and they were good provings, such as getting the winning point, stealing the frisbee, etc) i was the first girl picked when we got new teams! how exciting! the first girl! the worst boy was picked before me. and trust me, i was better than him. not only was i better than him, but most of the girls were better than him. honestly, in this group of people, i wouldn't say that the boys were any better than the girls. it's just a thing though. boys just think that boys are always better. they're cocky.

i shouldn't have to prove myself, but i guess i'll always have to.

good thing i'm good.

a break

Things have been getting better up here. I've been pretty busy this week which has kept my mind off missing home. Carlee and Katie came up on Friday night to pay me a visit. It was just what I needed. Thank heavens for sisters.

We went to Five Guys for dinner, came back to my apartment and made f'zookies while playing Yahtzee, then had a long pillow talk.

Saturday we saw the new Superman, got Jamba's, and watched some people jump off a huge bridge into the Snake River (with parachutes).

We also saw some people standing next to their old van with a sign that said, "Need money and vegetarian food," or something along those lines. The part that got us was the 'vegetarian food'. When you're begging for food, you probably can't be that picky. Just sayin.

I am making my own hashtag on Instagram, #twinfailz. It's like Twin Falls, but fails, because it is of all the weird stuff I see around here. I tried to get a picture of those vegetarian beggars, but it was hard to be discrete. But keep your eyes out for pictures of my white trash neighbors, and all the other weird stuff around here.

the worst

I don't mean to be dramatic but Sunday was the WORST birthday in all my years.

I turned 23.

The day before, I drove 3 hours away from home to Twin Falls, Idaho, for my dietetic internship. I've never been to this town. And for good reason. I've learned that this really is the white trash capital of the world. On Saturday I went to Walmart, and I think the Twin Falls Walmart is where they get all those 'People of Walmart' photos.

Sunday I went to church with my new roommate. Not a soul knew it was my birthday. When I got home I cried all day. Cried and cried. I felt super sick, probably because of all that crying. All I ate was a bowl of Raisin Bran and a banana. What a birthday meal!

Luckily, I talked to almost every family member and a friend or two. That's the only thing that made the day a tiny bit bearable.

But it's over, thank heavens. I started my internship on Monday and it should be fun. This week is a little slow because I'm working with the diet techs. I pretty much already know how to do what they do. I'm ready to move on! But things will speed up and get more exciting next week.

I met some friends yesterday who go to Utah State. I instantly fell in love with them, because anyone who goes to Utah State is my friend. I always loved that school, but I didn't realize how much! Utah State is my best homie.

Twin Falls is getting better, now that I'm getting going. But, oh how I miss Logan and home.

change is in the air

my life hasn't been too exciting as of late. i moved home last week and said goodbye to logan forever. or at least for a while. at least goodbye to living in logan. it was so sad. i love that place. but home is good. i love home too. in one week i move to twin falls, idaho. home of the two falls that are twins.

i'm actually getting kind of excited. i'll be working in a hospital for a few months, then in a dialysis clinic for a month. and when i say 'work' i mean, paying grundles of money to work/learn things. but it'll be cool. i'm starting to believe that i really did pick the right profession, contrary to my senioritis doubts. we'll see if i'm right at the end of the summer, though.

Rachie Roo

So, funny enough, this girl, Rachel, just posted a whole blog post about me. And I had one about her in my drafts cause she got murried. We really do think a like, I guess. But anyways... this is what I wrote about her....

One of my very best friends ever got married last week.

Rachel and I have been roommates for over a year and ever since I moved in with her we became fast friends. We're both pretty chill and easy to live with (I think I am...) so it was easy to share a room with her and we had the best pillow talks.

We used to play 'Marry, Makeout, Murder' or 'Do, Date, or Ditch' every night at pillow talk. We didn't like to 'murder' anyone, but we didn't like to 'do' anyone. So sometimes it ended up being 'Marry, Makeout, Ditch'. Here's how it works. For example, I would select three random men, preferably all men that Rachel either likes or doesn't like, so as to make it harder. Then the other one has to choose one to marry, one to makeout with, and one to ditch, not literally. It's quite entertaining.

We both are ridiculously punny and think we're ridiculously funny. It works out, because while we usually roll our eyes at the other, we secretly are laughing hysterically inside.

Rachel would do anything for me in a heartbeat. And she has many times! One time I was hanging out with my work friends and I wanted to leave ever so badly but I had gotten a ride with someone there. I would have been stuck there for hours. I texted Rachel and she drove like ten minutes to come get me! She listens to me talk about boys, even though it's ridiculous. And she is a great example of patience and being the bigger person (not literally). If someone is treating her bad, she is always nice to them. Sometimes it makes me angry because I just want her to smack them. But she's always the bigger person and I think that will get her far in life.

Rachel is younger than me, but she is much smarter and accomplished. She is super independent and she the mom of our house. She was the one who always remembered to take the garbage out on Tuesday nights. I did it once. One time. We would have been in big troubs without her.

I am so grateful I was lucky enough to become such good friends with that girl. The semester before I moved in with her, I lived with a bunch of weirdies. I hated living with them. I immediately started trying to sell my contract and showed my house countless times. Each time having to deep clean every room in the house because my roommates were disgustingly messy. I probably showed it 5-10 times and no one wanted it. By the time the semester ended I was horrified. I couldn't live there for another semester! I just wanted out of that house, and I really wanted out of that ward too. I just wanted new people. Well, I talked to my landlord and he let me switch houses because they had a vacancy in another house. Rachel lived there, and I was kind of worried because we'd known each other for a while, but we weren't really friends yet. And what if she didn't wanna room with me? But I had to get out of that other place. So I moved into her room. And like 3 days later we were besties. It was definitely a blessing that no one bought my contract, even though I was bitter back then. If it weren't for that.... oh dear!

I recently needed to get a printer and since she just got married and both her and Josh had one, she just gave me hers. I said, "Let me pay you," and she said, "No." Then I gave her the rest of my Cafe Rio salad a few days later and she said that would be my payment. What a steal of a deal!

Girl cannot make a normal face to save her life...
